Calvin Johnson... Liverpool Calling

so first gig for me and toby!!
Opening for Calvin Johnson, with 10p mixes and dirt blonde, at st brides.

i phoned nick and asked to meet him early in town for a drink, when i got there..bad news, jim had txt sayin he couldnt get his drums to the gig, and then didnt txt or phone for a while leavin me, nick and toby to wonder..wtf.
me and nick went the venue (st brides church,liverpool)seen toby and his family, i felt so pissed off at jim. i get most of my cues from the drums, didnt know how id be. so we had a sound check w/o the drums and it was ok.it didnt sound like us, as it was low,volume wise(part of the gig was that we agreed with the promoter that we would turn the amps down,bein a church or whatever,cant remember the actual reason) and there wasnt a hurricane of drums behind us.
so 15 mins before goin on, we phone jim, hes just left his house..which is over an hour away!!!
it was time to go on..
and it was an awesome feelin:)
i had to concentrate so much thou,knowin wen to come in and out w/o cues..i would of liked to bounce about abit and relax alittle up there.
afterward we got alot of compliments from the other bands, and a great one from calvin johnson he said "i really enjoyed your singing tonight" i thanked him and said it was my first time on stage, he said "see if you hadnt said that, i would have had no idea":) he also said wer great as a 3piece! lol.
and wen jim turned up,2 and half hours late, he had no excuse just full of self pity.
the only reason im so heartless about this, is that its not the first time hes let us down, wether it be not showin for practise w/o valid reason or tryin to leave the photoshoot..
