back in the studio:) ..
hey,went the studio with newnick, drummer didnt show due to phone/hospital etc.hopefully hel be there nxt week.sesh went boss, got a brand new song and a new grungey version of "that night"i had (jayne)flu so wasnt 100% but still had fun:)put an add out for a bassist too..theres an add out in curly for a bassist,was tempted to get in touch over it,but he sounds like a pure dick,so i'l wait:/xx

hey,hey im officialy lookin for a new band..i left the remains of tiger lily this week.
today i put an add in the local music stores..influ=sex pistols,distillers,hole,springsteen,stones,u2 and etc,etc.
i hope it happens quite quick..im gonna miss havin a weekly practise,but the thing aint been the same sinse toby left.
im gonna spend the time waitin, writin lots and lots of new lyrics,and learn basic guitar better,just to write not to play in the band with.i aint a proper musician lol.if i can play as bad as courtney love then ill be content with that:)

tues gone
jim wants a month off lol, i think its a good idea..take xmas off.i just hope he comes back after his time away.lifes crazy at the min,itl be nice to get away from the same old thing, and give me n nick a chance to write a bunch of new tunes, and i can learn the set on accoustic, for some open mic things i wanna do.
me and nick went the studio, i learnt 3 of the songs on guitar, and he showed me 3 new tunes hes wrote to my lyrics:) theyr cool.
nick seemed really chilled, for the first time in AGES:) so maybe jims break is doin good already.

tues gone, gone.
last week=
blah, blah, blah,..it was ok, but wheres the fun.its standing still.i miss toby, when it was summer, and things wer happening,new songs bein written and gigs lined up.me and toby wer new to everything and it was awesome sharing that with somebody.
when i got home,i wanted to leave the band.
nick came rnd nxt day, we went through a bunch of band ideas and i wanna stay.its gettin like eastenders in this fuckin band..too much drama,people need to learn to forget or forgive or something..its weird at the min between everyone.

went the studio, kelvin was alreasy there to audition.on time,unlike fat bastards me and nick.who wer hangin out, prob eatin burgers somewhere like usual,instead of usin the 1st hour to write.it was soooo good to be playin with a guitarist there again.hes goin through some major shit at the min, so cant commit as a member but think hes gonna play next week too:)
tonight was good,nick got some stuff on film too, for the film hes makin.think hes gonna put somethin on youtube for the guys over at the underground garage message board.

dancing barefoot..tues
hioooooooh, went the studio,walked up with nick..jim was about 5million hours late again, and i was the most tired person in the world,so i was pissed off that he wasnt there to wake me up with his loud ass drummin.
we didnt get upto much,went through new song "that night", and filmed some stuff for nicks "major motion picture"(uni film)..had a laugh with jim,hadnt seen him sinse the cavern gig.the guy who was meant to audition didnt show,due to a pretty fuckin good reason.
theres a new song in the works,didnt try it out on tues but should be ready by nxt wk..
oh n dont think wer changin the name nemore.

yo,yo..went studio with nick,jim couldnt make it as he was takin care of his cuter than cute grandson.
me and nick spent the time, jammin,filmin for a documentary on the band, hes makin for his film course at uni,i had a go of his bass..doin a bad impression of jeff ament i fell over with the bass and landed on my accoustic guitar, nearly puttin a big bad crack in it..tis ok thou..its a toughy.
thats it really.i think we are auditionin kelvin again on tues..its not confirmed yet.

hey, audition number 3 on tues..i cant wait to get this gig done,im lookin forward to it,itl be fun etc, but i just cant wait to start writing new songs again, instead of audtionin and just hangin around.its became a social event rather than a band lol, which is ok.i felt really ill tonight, was in the staircase talkin bout film with one of the guys that work there,while wonderin if id actually make it down the stairs without fainting.really dizzy,hot n cold all night.dam freshers flu.the guy who audtioned was real good on guitar,we have another audition in 2 wks, i think.also the 2nd guy who auditioned wants to come bk and try out again in a few weeks time.jim is asking the universe for a sexy guitarist with mystique..oh hell yeah:)

hey hey,went through the set needs a little tidyin, as weve not really been through it in about a month! worked on a new song called "that night", its the first song ive wrote with a band,ive wrote a lot in the past month and a half maybe ten songs on guitar,cant wait to hear em as complete songs.our practise room tonight had a rug in it!,it really tied the room together!!ha.cant wait till i can play guitar propely,ive really started lovin it:) if id picked it up 2months ago,instead of two weeks ago,i could probebly save the day.xx

hey, a guitarist named kelvin came to audition.went well, but dunno if hel be the one to join. im not gettin to bogged down by the whole thing,we work cool as a 3, everybodys just gettin tighter and writing more, while we wait for the right guy/girl to come along.it does look like the Cavern will be just the 3 of us.itl be fine ha.xx

hey, took geetar to studio.we mainly just spoke bout what everyone wants and what changes we'd like to have happen, now wer one down (for now). we think after the cavern we gonna have a fresh start,new songs,same name.
me and nick worked on one of the songs i wrote on accoustic, its lookin cool, and is ready for jim to lob some beats over nxt week.then we went through the set..some reason we didnt work much but time flew.
a good heart to heart with a clearer future..and stronger trust.it was awesome.

hey, we went to rehersal at first it was shit then it got better once we went through the set and relised we can go on for a bit w/o guitars and wer not totaly fucked for the cavern.i never really noticed but we only really use full guitars for 2 tracks.awesome for us.considerin...
im watchin that vh1 honours the who thing on tv, petes guitar style is what id like in tiger lily..personaly.i want to inject aggression into this band..esp on something like "danielle".im probebly only thinkin this right now cause im pissed off in life for the first time in months.
and because the who are awesome..:)

hey, practise tonight was my fave for a good while, not that the others have bn bad or whatever,but this one really stood out for me.
we decided on which songs wer gonna record on the 26th of this month, "tell it all again" and "tracks", i wish we could record some more but at the minute we only have money for 2songs.think we are gonna put 2 live tracks on a cd with the two polished payed for tunes.
we had a tune called "cosmic queen" that has been revamped and exploded into a whole new tune..toby got his jimmy page hands on it and turned it into something else, something awesome,..blew me away:) cant wait till its finished so we can play it live.

hey,sleepin pills are makin me tired in the day and outa breath, tonights practise was really affected by these dumb side affects.. so like the line from "down"(pearl jam) "Think I'll throw these pills away" ..after tonights practise i decided im gonna start writing full songs again, rather than just lyrics..ive spent a good while settlin into bein part of this band, acceptin my role and now i feel ok with it that i can now move about,loosin up and try to throw new things into the mix.

hey, had soundcheck..it was lovely, so organised. oh the drummer showed up:) and he was nice and early.
went for a drink at the Hanover.
the zanzibar is awesome, real intimate.
we went on 2nd, it was boss..so loud, last weeks gig was nothin compared.
the audience was great:) and the other bands wer cool too.
id love to play there on a reguler basis.

practise went well, me and toby wer nervous..odd.

Calvin Johnson... Liverpool Calling

so first gig for me and toby!!
Opening for Calvin Johnson, with 10p mixes and dirt blonde, at st brides.

i phoned nick and asked to meet him early in town for a drink, when i got there..bad news, jim had txt sayin he couldnt get his drums to the gig, and then didnt txt or phone for a while leavin me, nick and toby to wonder..wtf.
me and nick went the venue (st brides church,liverpool)seen toby and his family, i felt so pissed off at jim. i get most of my cues from the drums, didnt know how id be. so we had a sound check w/o the drums and it was ok.it didnt sound like us, as it was low,volume wise(part of the gig was that we agreed with the promoter that we would turn the amps down,bein a church or whatever,cant remember the actual reason) and there wasnt a hurricane of drums behind us.
so 15 mins before goin on, we phone jim, hes just left his house..which is over an hour away!!!
it was time to go on..
and it was an awesome feelin:)
i had to concentrate so much thou,knowin wen to come in and out w/o cues..i would of liked to bounce about abit and relax alittle up there.
afterward we got alot of compliments from the other bands, and a great one from calvin johnson he said "i really enjoyed your singing tonight" i thanked him and said it was my first time on stage, he said "see if you hadnt said that, i would have had no idea":) he also said wer great as a 3piece! lol.
and wen jim turned up,2 and half hours late, he had no excuse just full of self pity.
the only reason im so heartless about this, is that its not the first time hes let us down, wether it be not showin for practise w/o valid reason or tryin to leave the photoshoot..

so the last prac,from what i can remember went well, we all chose the pix we want from the shoot to go on the myspace (which are up now). and decided on the set list, removin a song called "johnny johnny" as its not quite polished.

twas awesome, we started out on a v.i.p luxury lounge wine bus lol, we wer treated so nicely.lots of free wine too.
then went onto a little church garden by the liver building.

hi,
pretty much went from manchester airport to the studio.
i got there sooo tired, jim didnt show due to, im not even sure..
so we ended up treating it as a social, i couldnt get things right as my mind was fried from lack of sleep and plus i get most of my cues from jim!
we had a laugh, "the shagging basslines"..we talked about the upcoming photshoot..whats everybody gonna wear?,weve all decided to just go in as ourselves,i was thinkin of wearin a dress, but whats the point, i wont ever wear one on stage..im not courtney love,i aint stage diving in a dress!! so its all pretty casual, cept maybe nick,hes thinking of something cowboy related. theres a cowboy in most bands, i find:)
nick and toby played me the new tracks i missed while in n.y, they are awesome, alot darker than the stuff weve been doin already.
and a great thing was said (for me on a personnel level) nick the only original member of the old line up said, the turning point for him,when tiger lily became the new tiger lily was when "johnny,johnny" was written, the lyrics wer written by me..it could of been any random song.im glad it was my words,as i know the grief nick has been through trying to shake of the pain from the last break up. hes safe with us now lol.
i cant wait to record :)

hi,
tuesday, we worked alot on Toby's instrumental, he brought some lyrics with him, two seperate songs and i think one will work with the instrumental, its called "rusting bucket". gonna try it out propely nxt practise.
gutted, my tape broke so in the end it was just one big muffle that i recorded, but i think nick was recordin too.
the set list is lookin for a few covers, we decided on "sunshine of your love" by cream.the set is 8 songs strong now, so we want to pick 4 more from wat we have and lob em in there.
we also had our first band photo taken which is now the the myspace display pic :)
ive decided after all the greasy,crappy mic's they loan me every wk at vulcan studios, its time to buy my own wen i go to new york nxt week..a shure sm58,sweet:)

im bein a bad ass and missin nxt weeks practise to go see pearl jam play madison sq garden

hi,

last tues was great, we had a little issue with a bass string but that soon got sorted, the rooms given out in the studio each week are quite random but this week we where in the room where we are gonna be doin a little warm up gig soon:)

i recorded alot of the session on me little dictaphone, and made a little video of the middle eight durin Gorgo, Gorgo is a song that is just like a B movie lol, its mad and very cool, like the mind of its master..Nick the bassist lol.

the set list is gettin much tighter and new songs are bein written every week, weve added one of the new ones to the set called "tracks" , so catchy but with a serious lyric.

the latest i hear from the band through emails from last tues, is that we may have a photoshoot coming up and that we are deciding which covers to...cover.

also we have decided to re-write the verses to "Tex Mex", so this tues the new version will be rehersed..awesome.

Yo, We reherse of a tues at Vulcan Studios, last tues was the first time i could sing w/o pain due to bastard tooth, anyhow with it bein taken out i have discoverd i now sing with a lisp..dunno if i like that or not.
anyway the rehersal was awesome , we recorded some things and have the set list pretty much ready for next months mini warm up gig at the studio, itl be myn and tobys first live performance (i have done one runway show..but nothin music related)..scary and exciting.
i took a little dictaphone..its pretty shitty but it came in very handy and done me well, as toby pulled out a piece of music he has wriiten and it turned into a mega heavy jam..i fuckin sat there in awe,recorded the whole thing..its so cool cause our musical influ are all so different and its startin to show and work real well as the weeks go by. Weve only been together a month and with my lack of experience,i dunno if its meant to go this fast and i guess, this well...
I really cant wait to record and get the myspace and demo updated..we should be recordin in a few weeks :)

Intro-A Band Virgin

Hey, i just recently joined Tiger Lily and as its the first band ive ever been in, i figure i should record it like a lil diary of rehersals, gigs and the inbetweens.

It was a month ago i auditioned, and 3 hours beforehand my tooth broke, leavin me with an exposed nerve..great stuff, great timing there. anyhow i went along and gave it ago..thankfully i still got in.

So...a month later

the line up is final , Tiger Lily consists of-

Nick, the only original memeber from the beginning, awesome songwriter and groovy bassist, backing vocalist too. Talented guy, also studying film.

Jim, one of my fave drummers ever..and thats the truth, he'l think im suckin up,but im not..the guy is cool.

Toby, the baby of the group lol, hes a fuckin master on guitar..nuff said.

And lil old me goin along for the ride :)

So thats my lil intro...
